About Us

Anchor Church Joburg

Anchored in Jesus.
We believe that Jesus is the only hope for humanity. We believe that as God’s Son Jesus stepped into this broken world and willingly gave up His life for us on the cross in order that we may be redeemed from our sins and reconciled to God, our Creator.

Anchored in Community.
We believe that church is not just an event to attend, but a community to belong to. It’s not just a place to visit on Sundays, but a family we share our lives with as we grow in our faith and serve our city together.

Anchored in Joburg.
We believe that God has called us to this city in order to reach people with the powerful message of God’s love, sharing the hope that we have found in Jesus and the grace that is available in Him.

Statement of Faith

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God, making us subject to God’s judgement.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and to empower us for life. Salvation of the individual is therefore by the grace of God alone, through repentance and faith in Christ Jesus, on the grounds of His merit and death alone.

We believe that all believers are to be baptised in water as an outward sign and public declaration of their faith in Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the one who baptises us with the Holy Spirit for the empowerment of the Church and that believers are indwelt, led, and gifted by the Holy Spirit for specific areas of ministry.

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly for corporate worship, fellowship, prayer, and the ‘breaking of bread’.

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory and the physical resurrection of all believers before the judgment of the world.
